Using iRAP Star Ratings and Building Safer Roads

April 23 @ 8:30 am - April 25 @ 5:00 pm UTC+0

Download the training brochure here

Designing safer roads for all users and creating a forgiving and self-explaining environment is a priority in World Bank financed road projects. There are numerous tools that can be applied to identify risks and improve road safety infrastructure during implementation – road safety inspections, road safety audits, International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) baseline and design evaluations, etc.

iRAP assessments are increasingly being used to measure risk on Philippines’ road and guide investment in safety facilities. With support from the World Bank – Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF) and Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS), iRAP assessments have been, and will be, performed on national highways with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), city roads with the Department of Transport (DOTr) and Farm to Market Roads with the Department of Agriculture (DA).

In this training course, hosted by UP NCTS and delivered by WB, iRAP and NCTS experts, students will refresh their knowledge about road infrastructure safety, iRAP Star Ratings and Safer Roads Investment Plans (SRIP), get hands-on experience using the iRAP online software, ViDA, and learn practical techniques for using iRAP to help save lives.
