iRAP Paraguay Officially Begins

paraguay

iRAP Paraguay will assess some 4,000km of national highways and aims to help prevent the 845 road deaths that occur each year in the country.

The official launch of iRAP Paraguay gained high-level support from leaders such as Efrain Alegre, Minister of Public Works and Communications and Víctor Dumot, President of the Touring and Automovil Club of Paraguay.

The launch follows the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) announcement during the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) in New York that it has committed to reduce the number of road deaths throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. As part of this effort, iRAP and the IDB will work in close partnership to eliminate high-risk roads. More than 6 out of 10 people killed in road crashes in Paraguay are pedestrians and motorcyclists.

October 2009.
