EuroRAP Wins Prince Michael Award

princemichael

EuroRAP has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to road injury prevention, receiving a prestigious Prince Michael Award.

On the eve of the first global ministerial meeting on road safety, Prince Michael of Kent presented a series of special international awards for outstanding initiative, foresight and leadership, recognising significant 'milestones' on the road to Moscow over the previous five years.

EuroRAP was recognised for its campaign to provide consumer-based safety ratings for roads across Europe and give road engineers and planners vital benchmarking information. EuroRAP was instrumental in the establishment of iRAP, which is now working with governments and non-government organisations to prevent thousands of deaths and serious injuries in low and middle-income countries.

Since 1987, Prince Michael awards have given public recognition to those who have improved road safety throughout Britain. Now the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards recognise outstanding achievement and innovation world-wide.

December 2009.
